Architect, planner, entrepreneur and author involved in greenways, open space, active living, and alternative mobility projects for more than 30 years. Co-founder of Alta Bicycle Share, which launched Citi Bike in NYC and bikeshare systems in multiple cities. Author of 'The Third Mode: Towards a Green Society.' Work includes Grand Canyon Greenway, Empire State Trail, White House Millennium Trails Program, Dubai Bicycle/Pedestrian Master Plan, Bicycle Friendly Favelas Program in Rio de Janeiro, and NW Arkansas Razorback Greenway. Founded America's first university course in bicycle and pedestrian planning at SUNY. Recognized with Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 by Association for Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals. Currently sustainability consultant and advisor to World Resources Institute. Lives in Upstate NY, father of three, avid skier and bicyclist.
